So I am back home. For over a week now. I didn’t really know where to start writing about our Interrail tour 2009 and there it was: Procrastination! But to put an end to my reader’s longing for information about the tour… I’m going to write a short post for each city that we visited and post some pictures to prove I was there..
As you can read from earlier posts, we’ve changed the route pretty early… After we had realised that our first stop, Bratislava/Slovakia, wasn’t exactly a city of great beauty or atmosphere (maybe the 2 days were just not enough to enjoy it – I don’t know), we decided to changed the route, since we expected a similar flair in Cluj Napoca, Talmaciu and Szeged. Maybe our Deep Down Bavarian Forest Mentality kicked in subliminally and made us desire the beaches of Croatia instead of real-life plattenbau. Or maybe Tüftl (one of my 2 fellow travellers) and I were just overwhelmed by the language barrier in the search for food and shelter (btw: the ad is better than the rooms) and just took Johannes (the other one of my 2 fellow travellers, who arrived a couple of hours later) by surprise and persuaded him to support our plans. Anyway, after a lovely dinner (bread+cheese+apples) at the brownish Danube riverbank, Tüftl and I finally found our hostel. The three of us spent the two days in Bratislava wandering through the city and checking out some tourist sites en passent. We maintained this incredibly sophisticated system in the other cities as well.
Here are the photos of Bratislava (August 10, 2009 – August 11, 2009).
